I thought I had the temporary-bed situation sorted, but then I discovered that the bed I'd been thinking of getting from Argos is too low for my purposes (the main reason I need a bed instead of sleeping on the floor like I've always done when I had guests in the house is that I'll probably find it hard to get up).
In the comments to my previous post, several people mentioned inflatable beds. That's starting to look interesting as an option. I would like to ask for more comments if possible...
A friend pointed out to me that the inflatable bed she has is not so easy to get up from, because (1) it's saggier than a normal bed, however well you inflate it, and (2) when you try to roll off it does a kneeling bus impersonation, and actually lowers the edge -- meaning you don't get up from its full height, but from a lower height. Not good.
Argos have two kinds of full-height inflatable beds: Aerobed, expensive but self-inflating and "branded", and very solid-looking in so far as one can tell from a picture, and this non-branded version, which would need a pump but it's a third of the price.
I would like to hear comments about the getting-up issue from people who have or have used raised airbeds; also ideally if anyone has one of these two specific models it would be great to hear comments -- I know chances are slim, but hey...
Edited to add: oh, also pointers to where such things can be bought in Dublin, other than Argos, if anybody knows... (This is starting to become a bit of a "please do my homework for me" post, but bear with me...)
